Vintage Felt Flowers

It’s been awhile since I’ve blogged, but I’d figure I would start up again for no other reason that I feel like it. So for my first one back I’m going to talk about flowers LOL. Not the typical man topic, but I do photography on the side and thought the flowers at this particular wedding where interesting enough to post a quick blog.

I follow Benfield Photography in google reader and he shot this beautiful shot of the bride and brides maid’s flowers. I had to take a closer look and yes they are felt and buttons! So off the wall and interesting I had to send them to my wife who likes to scrapbook and mess around with different types of paper and crafts.

Apparently the flowers where done by Meghan of Princess Lasertron and there are other examples of the felt and button work on her site. Very interesting indeed. I might have had to talk my wife into them if we were getting married. I’m sure I would have gotten shot down though.

Well thanks for checking in to my annual blog post 🙂 Hopefully I’ll have some more interesting things to say before the year ends.

Leveraging Online Social Networks to Increase Business

I follow the LinkedIn blog in google reader and watched a video about how a small Investment Banking company managed to make over $300k+ by leveraging their contacts on linked in. Ron Lissak, a managing partner of the company, talked about how he was able to search for the right people and find many opportunities through LinkedIn. I’m trying to learn more on how to leverage online resources for my business so I thought I would pass the information along. The LinkedIn blog has been a great read and has presented many ideas for me to expand on. You can read the original article or watch the video below.

Suggest topics for me to write about: Skribit

I would love for those who read this blog (all 3 of you lol) to suggest topics for me to blog about. I was alerted to a very kewl service called Skribit that allows people to suggest items. Please post your suggestions there or use the skribit box on the right. Thanks alot!

Blogging is hard to do

Blogging takes time, thought, energy, and more time lol All of which it seems I have none of recently, but I’m going to try and do it this month. A post a day. Should be interesting and fun. My main frustration with this processes is focus. Each blog seems to focus in on a specific area such as gadgets, seo, gtd, video, etc and post on those specific topics only breaking from the mold for interesting yet still related topics.

My blog is all about me. So finding a niche and sticking to it would paint myself in a box of only talking about certain things. I want to talk about everything. Seems daunting, but I’m willing to try even if it means going down in a flaming fireball. So with that said I leave you with an older video that I never posted to the web.

For those who haven’t seen this yet. It’s quite hilarious…

New Blog at Vox

Janell asked me the other day where to setup a blog that would be easy to use. I had heard an Inside the Net interview with one of the creators of TypePad and the company Six Apart about their latest creation Vox. She described it as an easy way to share photos, blog about life and much more. She was right. It’s a really easy way to blog. If you would like to try it out I have a few invites. Just shoot me over an email.

I’ll be posting some over here as well as at jheslop.com. Depending on how it goes over there I might migrate my blog to point to vox. So Stay Tuned
