I would say to read the book and find out for yourself if it comes across to “pushy”. I didn’t think so and I’m usually sensitive to those kinds of things.

Great Review! I don’t read very often but when I do, I strive for great books. The kind of books that you can’t put down because of their compelling nature. You sound like me when you say that you were reluctant at first, I’m usually that way and don’t want to waste my time. I’m not sure about the “controversial views of god” though, I try to refrain from Christian influence books because I feel some of them are pushy in the some of the beliefs and the if you don’t believe the same “you’re going to hell” mentality… I’m sure one of you knows what I’m talking about, but is this book like one of those?

If you go to the official website of “The Shack” you’ll find endorsements from some heavyweights in the Christian community. Also I read that the book was slammed by evangelicals such as Charles Colson.

Didin’t read this book but it will be on my list. I constantly looking for soemthing interesting to read.

PS I also usually read what my wife is says is great. We have something in common!
